Why?
Any facility, after submitting & obtaining approval of its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report, will be required to implement the commitments made in the EIA. The EMP is a mechanism to implement these commitments over a long-term duration spanning the entire life of the facility. The EMP will also aid the facility in achieving compliance to monitoring & reporting requirements of concerned regulatory authorities.
Facilities having or proposing EMS certification (ISO-14001) are required to put in place all documentation & implementation requirements, which are either mandatory or optional. Mandatory requirements are crucial for facilities possessing EMS certification, as they are verification check points during surveillance audits for continuing certification.
